Reiki is a Japanese form of alternative medicine focused on energy healing. The body consists of energy centers, also known as chakras. In a Reiki session, the Reiki practitioner seeks to transmit and balance this life force energy to the client in order to create deep relaxation, to help speed healing, reduce pain, and decrease other symptoms clients may be experiencing. The practitioner uses hands-on healing techniques to feel and transfer universal energy. It can also include other modalities, such as sound and essential oils, to encourage emotional or physical healing. Reiki can be performed in-person or virtually.
